Carbon: Mobile Banking & Loans

Overview

The primary objective of this project was to develop a seamless, user-friendly mobile application that empowers customers to manage their financial activities efficiently and securely. We aimed to create an all-in-one financial solution that simplifies daily transactions and enhances financial accessibility.

I was onboarded into the project as a Business Analyst, to assist in implementing an improved loan process that aligns with the current business outlook of the economy and the banking sector.

My role, results and tools used...

REQUIREMENTS GATHERING

  • Detailed requirements gathering sessions with financial experts and regulatory bodies, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements.

  • Sessions with customers and end users. This is to ensure that user needs and pain points are properly captured.

  • Creation of Inception and Elaboration documents drafts.

PROCESS MAPPING

  • User Journey mapping.

  • Process flow diagrams.

  • I identified potential bottlenecks and areas for improvement.

DATA ANALYSIS

  • Competitors Analysis. I gathered and prepared data on the existing fintech loan apps' features and business models.

  • Presentation of key insights to the management team.

  • Designed visualization dashboards on key metrics for this app

COLLABORATIONS

  • Communicated the process ideas to the UI/UX designer.

  • Held, sprint planning sessions, daily stand-ups and sprint review meetings with the development team and QA.

  • I prioritized deliverables, obtained client acceptance, and monitored the status of performance and budget.

  • Demo of new app features to the stakeholders.

RESULTS

  • The Carbon app enabled instant loan approvals for qualified users, reducing the processing time from days to minutes.

  • It also reduced transaction times for bill payments and fund transfers by 40%, significantly enhancing user satisfaction.

  • Carbon loan app achieved a high user adoption rate within the first six months, with positive feedback on the app's ease of use and reliability.
